Are we having FUN???? Yes the Summer season has brought guests from near and far who are enjoying “our island” .. Weddings are happening..and concerts–last night we enjoyed Mae Moore’s outdoor concert at the Community Centre today our guests are taking the “long journey” to Gowland Point to attend “Art Off The Fence” an outdoor Gallery featuring incredible Pender Artists…….project report–the House painting is close to finish — Corbett House’s rebirth is proceeding on schedule(that’s Pender Island time!!!!) …. It has been a wonderful experience meeting so many gracious/positive guests..thank you ps.. couldn’t attend Orca Day at Thieve’s Bay on Saturday .. too many events not enough time!!!! Life Is Good!!!

Michelle’s Sheep Have Arrived!!

We are so excited to have several beautiful Icelandic Sheep grazing in the front pasture.. they jumped out of the truck and immediately began doing what sheep do– eating!! Lucy was curious , barked a little and hopped through the grass following the flock–Cute!!
On the construction side we have almost finished rebuilding the front steps and have finished the deck on the South side overlooking the Orchard…a perfect spot to enjoy a sunny morning coffee…..

A Summer Wedding

We are so excited!! Mid. August we will host our first “wedding” in the orchard…..Sounds like there will be close to fifty guests for the ceremony —now the pressure is on to finish all the projects in process…keeping you posted…john

Mason Bees!!

They are out of the ‘fridge and ready to work their magic!!! This sounds a little strange but the Bees(in cocoons) are cleaned in the fall and kept in a dark spot over winter.. When the buds begin they are put outside in emerging boxes and as the temperature rises they “pop” out and fly off to pollinate…Why the ‘fridge????? If the apple trees are not in bloom the bees “pop” out and pollinate the cherries/plums but don’t help out with the apples so we delay their emersion by keeping them dormant in a cool place..this is our first controlled “bee year” so there is lots of excitement as our buddies arrive on the scene……..Come see the Bees!!!!!

It’s Blossom Time—

A mild, warm winter has turned into an early spring here on Pender Island. The Cherry/Plum trees are in bloom with daffodils brightening the yard–buds are on the apple trees–exciting.. We will re-open for the summer season April 1 — hopefully the NEW DECK will be finished and operational.. lots of improvement projects over the winter to make your stay at CHCC even more enjoyable….. hope to see you soon…..john/eve

Home Improvements

We are sooo excited!! The den/hallway/kitchen renovation is beginning/continuing — new flooring will be in soon and the kitchen will be opened up with additional windows on the south wall. The deck will be finished before we re-open in April so lots of action over the Winter months……………..We are enjoying the island so much that our plans to head away for February may be on hold……..it’s hard to leave even in the Winter…….take care and HAPPY NEW YEAR……john/eve
